17 January 2011, Hong Kong

KPMG announces with deep sadness, the tragic passing away of our colleague Wilson Wan Wai Shun, a professional with KPMG in Hong Kong. Wilson, 24, tragically lost his life in a traffic accident on Friday morning (January 14) between 0800 and 0900am, while travelling to visit a client in Yunnan Province.
Wilson and two other KPMG staff were travelling from Yuxi in the client's vehicle to visit their premises. Thick fog conditions caused a cargo lorry to block the road, resulting in a pile up of a number of vehicles. The client's driver was aware of the conditions and slowed to a halt. Unfortunately an oil tanker behind crashed into his vehicle, resulting in the passing away of Wilson and the injury of the other two KPMG colleagues and the driver.
One colleague suffered fractured ribs and returned to Hong Kong on Saturday evening (January 15) to receive medical treatment. She is now in a stable condition. The third colleague had minor cuts and also returned to Hong Kong on Sunday. The client's driver was seriously injured and remains in hospital.
In a message to staff, Carlson Tong, Chairman, KPMG China, said: "On behalf of the Partners, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of Wilson. We have been doing our very best to render the necessary assistance and provide comfort and support to the families."
KPMG is liaising with relatives and local authorities and made immediate arrangements for the families to be flown to Yunnan, accompanied by KPMG colleagues, when the firm was made aware of the accident. The firm will continue to provide the necessary support to everyone affected by this tragedy, providing counseling to our people and working with Wilson's family in making arrangements for the funeral.
Carlson Tong said: "We would like to express the high regard in which Wilson was held, both as a colleague and a friend. Our thoughts are also with our injured colleagues, their families and the driver of the car." KPMG主席對審計員工不幸遇難的聲明 - maxpayne0594 - Call of Duty
